A typical mobile number in Burundi has 8 digits after the calling code +257 and is written at home without a trunk prefix, as in 79 56 12 34, so the international form is simply +257 79 56 12 34. Spaces, dots, dashes and brackets in your list are removed automatically.

Most people in Burundi read French. Plain text fits 160 characters per SMS in GSM-7, but â, ê, î, ô, û, ç, ë and ï are not in that alphabet, and one of them moves the whole message to Unicode at 70 characters per SMS (67 per part). The composer lists each of these characters, so you can choose between keeping the accents and saving segments.

Burundi keeps UTC+2 all year, with no clock change, so 10:00 in Bujumbura is always 08:00 UTC. Late morning and early evening on working days are the usual hours for marketing texts there, while codes and alerts go out the moment they are needed. The scheduler works in your browser's time zone and shows the conversion.

Kirundi is the most widely spoken language, but French is also used in formal communications.

Messages may be less effective during heavy rains when people are less likely to check their phones.
